# Sensors

The sensor mapping process describes associating a sensor with a single space in Locatee.

> 📘 Are you receiving sensor data?
>
> Sensor data should be already processed by a sensor integration. A working connection creates sensors automatically in the Locatee database. Here is how to check this is taking place correctly:
>
> 1. Go to **Admin → Data Sources → Sensors**
> 2. Check the **Sensors** table is populated. If that is not the case, check that the sensor integration is live and sending data properly.
>
> Sensors can also be created manually:
>
> 1. Click **New Sensor**
> 2. Fill in the required details:
>    1. **Name**
> 2. **Class**: people counting or generic (presence)
> 3. Click **Create**
> 4. Repeat for as many sensors as needed.

## Map a sensor to a space

1. Go to **Admin → Buildings** and open the building you wish to map sensors for.
2. Click on **Desk Mapping**. A new tab will open with the Desk Mapping page.
3. Click on the space you wish to map, and go to the Sensor tab.
4. Select the sensor ID from the dropdown that you wish to associate with that space. Filter for a specific ID by typing it in the search box.
5. Click **Save** to confirm your selection.
6. Repeat steps 4-6 for all desks.

## Import sensor mappings via CSV

Locatee supports the import of sensor mappings in bulk via a prepared CSV file.

### File preparation

| Column name | Format | Comments |
| :- | :- | :- |
| Building Code | String | Name of the building, exactly as configured in Locatee |
| Floor Name | String | Name of the floor, exactly as configured in Locatee |
| Location Label | String | Name of the space, exactly as configured in Locatee |
| Sensor Name | String | If no sensor exists with this name, it will be automatically created with the below specified type. Otherwise there must be exactly one existing sensor with that name. |
| Sensor Type | String | Allowed values: `GENERIC` (for presence sensors) or `PEOPLE_COUNT` (for people counting sensors) |

#### Example

```
Building Code,Floor Name,Location Label,Sensor Name,Sensor Type
LZA,1st floor,LZA.01.04,o72bb,PEOPLE_COUNT
```

### File import

1. Go to **Admin → Data Sources → Sensors**
2. Click on the **Import Mappings** button and load the prepared file.
