What is a space
Spaces are places where work can get done in an office. This can be individual work (such as a desk) or collaborative work (such as a meeting room). Spaces are where employees spend time with their work devices (laptop/smart phone), it can also be places where people take a break. Each space has a designated space type:Space set categories
Space set categories can be used to break down and analyse spaces within an office to get insights on them.
Space set categories should be based on non-overlapping values. For example, a category named “Teams” implies that spaces can’t belong to more than 1 team at the same time or a category named “Zone” implies that a space can’t be located in more than 1 zone.
There is no limit to the number of space set categories users can define, however, space set categories should be defined based on spaces which are homogenous in nature and closely colocated when measured with Wi-Fi, unless high accuracy data sources (such as sensors) are available.
The primary use case for analysis of spaces is the assignment of desks, the most frequently used space categories are:
- Zones - where the floorplan is broken down into zones, each containing desks.
- Teams - where the floorplan is broken down into team neighbourhoods, each containing desks that are assigned to a specific team
Space sets
Space sets indicate the assignment of each space (typically a desk) within a category.
- In the case of a team breakdown, the space set may be the name of the team.
- In the case of a zone breakdown, the space set may be the name of the zone.
