Integrating IOS XE telemetry

We use the gRPC TLS Dial-Out based mechanism. Telemetry is pushed from the device to the collector, and the subscription is created by a network administrator.

Supported devices

Managed Cisco WLCs, starting from Cisco 9800-series, running IOS XE 17.6 or higher

Preliminary checks

HTTP server status

show ip http server secure status

Expected:

HTTP secure server status: Enabled HTTP secure server port: 443

If not, run:

ip http secure-server

NETCONF-YANG status

show platform software yang-management process

Expected:

confd            : Running 
nesd             : Running 
syncfd           : Running

If not, run:

netconf-yang

Telemetry subscriptions

Request the following information from Locatee:
1. Client certificate
2. Client private key
3. Destination host and port
Configure the IOS XE trust point:

crypto pki trustpoint <NAME>-ROOT-CA
  enrollment terminal
  chain-validation stop
  revocation-check none
exit
crypto pki authenticate <NAME>-ROOT-CA

Configure the controller for wireless client readouts:
