Account coding defaults (also called coding defaults) define the accounting segments — cost centers, GL accounts, and other dimensions — that are applied to lease payments and journal entries when they are sent to your ERP system.

Where to find coding defaults

Coding defaults are set at the lease level on the Basic Info → Coding Defaults tab in Lease Details.
1

Open the lease

From the lease home, select the lease and click Lease Details.
2

Open Coding Defaults

Click the Coding Defaults tab on the Basic Info page.
3

Enter segment values

Fill in the accounting segment fields configured for your company. Common segments include department, cost center, GL account, and business unit. The specific fields available depend on your implementation.
4

Save

Click Save. These values are applied to payments and journal entries generated from this lease.

Allocation-level coding

When payments need to be split across multiple cost centers or payees, use Allocations on the recurring cost record instead of (or in addition to) lease-level coding defaults. See the Recurring Costs concept guide for details.
If the same coding applies to all recurring costs on a lease, set it as the Default Allocation and use Apply Default to All to push it across all recurring costs at once.
